Lyrics
I'll be there, just like I always said
So rest your worries, dear one. Rest your head.
All your memories that aren't soft and sweet
Will turn to rubble in our treasuries
As gold is tested in fire
If you get close enough, you might get burned
But I will see your face and I will see you through
You know there's nothing I wouldn't do
I don't know how we got to where we are
The world was never ours, but it felt like it
Can you hold your breath forever?
Will we ever be together?
Here's time: where's it gonna go?
It's alright, maybe time will let us know.
The world's pressed pause but your heart still beats
I know you're anxious for normality
Tell me, beloved, are you squandering
The precious gift that you've been holding?
Sooner or later, your chance will be gone
Let's seize the moment while it's in our grasp
And the sun will rise with bright auburn skies and we'll
Happy, know we gave it everything we had
We'll know how we got to where we are
The world was never ours, but it felt like it
Can you hold your breath forever?
Will we always be together?
Here's time: where's it gonna go?
It's alright, maybe time will let us know.
About the Song
Artist Aly Aleigha composed “Auburn Skies” during the pandemic. She didn’t realize how lyrics such as “The world’s pressed pause but your heart still beats” would be prophetic; shortly after the song’s release Aly’s mom went into Sudden Cardiac Arrest and flatlined for 8 minutes. All the paramedics, doctors etc. said people don’t come back from this…and yet, miraculously, she did.
Artist Aly Aleigha shares her inspiration for the song and the heartwarming story of her mom’s Sudden Cardiac Arrest & miraculous recovery.
