Lyrics

A Time for Everything (Preamble):

There is a time to laugh, a time to cry
time to be born, a time to die
A time to mourn, a time to heal
Time to tear down, then rebuild

There is a time to scatter, time to gather!
A time to seek, a time to lose
A time to speak out, time for silence
A time to rend a time to sew
A time to end and start anew
You’re ready, love, to start anew (x4)

PLOW

You’re not being gentle
At least that’s how it seems
But you are being intentional
Digging up what I’ve buried
It’s uncomfortable
Sometimes I’d rather hide and let things inside me die

But you want to start over.
You say, “Love, it’s time.
We need to start over. Ohh, love, it’s time.”

So alright then, let’s dig deep
Even if it scares me
I guess I give you permission to see
Though it’s scary and beautiful
how You’re beholding me

Let’s make something new
Ohhh You make all things new

And I can’t believe it
These things take time
I’ve been stuck in that feeling that something in me has died
For so long
All I wanted was to bloom and to already see the fruit
But nothing could grow
I was yearning for the harvest
Frustrated and los/ing/ all /hope

‘Cause the ground was freezing over…
It wasn’t the season to grow.

It wasn’t the season
It wasn’t the season
It wasn’t the season to.

It was the season to mourn, to weep, to grieve, to tear down, to heal
But it wasn’t the season
There is a time to laugh, a time to cry
Time to be born, a time to die (it wasn’t the season)
A time to mourn, a time to heal
Time to tear down, then rebuild (wasn’t the season)
There is a time to scatter, time to gather
But you're ready love, you're ready love to start anew, start anew
It wasn’t the season to.

About the Song

Winter.
A season where everything seems dead, any sign of life buried deep.
Sometimes the “winters” are long and hard, a season where pain or numbness seem neverending.
Is there any hope of springtime?  Can beautiful things bloom in my life once more?

We are ready.  Ready for change, for growth, for newness, for life to be better than what we’ve known it to be for so long.  We feel stuck in the season we’re in.
All I wanted was to bloom and to already see the fruit, but nothing could grow.
And yet…

Even while we ache for that newness, we fear the change.  We are complacent in the familiarity of winter.  It’s comfortable to keep things buried deep, undisturbed.  But in order for any growth to occur, the farmer must first till the soil that has been hardened and deadened from winter.

It is a painful, messy process which disturbs our facade--though the ground is hard and we feel dead inside, at least it looks tidy.  We want to rebel against the farmer…so he waits until we are ready.

So alright then, let’s dig deep. Even if it scares me.

He puts his hand to the plow and stirs up what we’ve buried deep.  It’s uncomfortable, but it is the only way good seeds can take root and we can finally grow.  We are learning we must have patience with the process; these things take time.

When we open ourselves to this messy and beautiful process, we can begin to rejoice in the newness and growth we had been waiting for. And looking back over all the seasons of life, we can recognize that each season served a purpose that was necessary in the process of growing into who we are becoming.

There is beauty in every season--even the harsh winter is a time of rest, preparing us for the time of abundance to come.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” - Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

An Intimate Journey with Aly Aleigha in 'PLOW'

We present Aly Aleigha , who emerges on the music scene as a fresh and transcendental voice within indie-folk, with a proposal that is reminiscent of the evocative sounds of Bon Iver , Hayden Calnin and Lauren Daigle . Her style, described as alternative indie-folk for adventurous souls, invites us on an introspective and emotional journey that resonates deeply in the heart of whoever listens.

Since her beginning, she has been able to build a unique space in music, where authenticity and vulnerability meet a sonorous mastery that captures the essence of the human experience. Her latest single, “ PLOW ,” is a clear manifestation of this ability, blending poetic lyricism with enveloping musicality that weaves a narrative of renewal and hope.

PLOW begins with a preamble titled “ A Time For Everything ,” which sets the reflective tone of the song. Verses like “ There is a time to laugh, a time to cry, Time to be born, a time to die ” remind us of the inevitability of the cycles of life. Aly Aleigha uses this introduction to prepare the listener for a deep dive into the process of personal transformation.

The song explores the theme of emotional and spiritual rebirth, using the metaphor of the plow to illustrate the difficult but necessary task of removing the layers of pain and sadness that impede growth. With disarming sincerity, Aly Aleigha sings “You're not being gentle, At least that's how it seems, But you are being intentional, Digging up what I've buried . ” Here, the artist does not shy away from showing the discomfort and fear that accompany self-examination and healing.

Musically, it is built on a foundation of soft guitar chords and subtle arrangements that complement her warm, resonant voice. The production manages to perfectly balance simplicity and sonic richness, creating an intimate atmosphere that envelops the listener.

The chorus, with its almost mantric repetition, reinforces the idea that renewal is a constant and necessary process. The overwhelming combination of thoughtful lyrics and a captivating melody makes the song's message resonate even more. Towards the end, she returns to the repetition of the preamble, reinforcing the cycle of life and the importance of each phase. The vocal overlay at the conclusion offers a sense of closure and continuity, leaving a feeling of peace and possibility.

In short, Aly Aleigha has created a piece that offers deep reflection on life and personal renewal. This single outlines her place in the vanguard of indie-folk, standing out as an artist who is not afraid to explore the depths of the human soul through her music.
